Configuring Macromedia Dreamweaver to homepage at HUT

You can make and edit your homepage easily with Macromedia Dreamweaver. Homepage-directories are configured as sites. To make a connection to your public_html-directory go through next steps.

Dreamweaver setup in the computers classes:

In Dreamweaver, go to Site-menu -> New Site

Open Advanced-page.

Name the site as you wish.

Local root folder should be on Z-drive, like: Z:\homepage\

Remote Info configuration is:

Access: FTP

FTP Host:
kosh.hut.fi

Use Secure FTP: yes

Host directory:
Copy the path to host directory from SSH Tectia File Transfer. The beginning of the path varies by user and the end should be /username/public_html

Example.
/m/fs/lai/lai/a/ivanska/public_html

Password is the master password

Dreamweaver setup for your own computer

You must use SSH Tectia Client for connection.

In SSH Tectia Client add a profile:
Hostname: kosh.hut.fi
Port number: 22
Tunneling->Local tunnels->Add:
Type: TCP
Listen port: 222
Destination host: wwwftp.hut.fi
Destination port:22

Connect to vipunen with master password and make the www-directory with unix-command use www

In Dreamweaver, go to Site -> New Site
- Name the site as you wish, Remote Info configuration is:
Access: FTP
FTP Host: localhost:222
Use Secure FTP: yes
Host directory: as above
Login and password with master pasword

Now you can edit your homepage with Dreamweaver. Remember that you must have a SSH-connection to vipunen at same time. Files and directories of your homepage are on the right in Files menu. You can also upload files to public_html-directory with SSH Tectia Client File Transfer.

Basics of printing

Checking the printing queue and cancelling printing in Windows

Press Start button and select Settings -> Printers. You will see the printerlist. By doubleclicking a printer you see a job list. Select (your own) job and press delete.

Status of print queues

After the printing job has been sent from windows you can follow printing queues with unix command
lpq -Pprint_queue
To see the printing queue of the plotter of computer class put:
lpq -Pa-dj430
as a-dj430 is the name of the plotter.

Deleting your print job

Printing job can be deleted from printing queue with unix command
lprm -Pprint_queue job_number
for example:
lprm -Pa-djJ430 333
You can delete only your printing jobs. So if someone elses job is blocking plotting you must find the person to delete the job.
